Water factors into play on four holes on the front nine of Wildhorse Golf Club and three holes on the back nine. Natural desert areas infringe on the fast and firm fairways, adding to the challenge of the round even as they form an attractive contrast with the lush irrigated turf. Views of the distant mountains add still more aesthetic appeal. Wildhorse Golf Club is a fairly flat playing field. It is one of the few Las Vegas-area courses that you can walk. One of the standout holes is the par-3 4th, a long par 3 with water trailing all the way up the right side and pinching in at the front right of the green. With two lakes ominously hugging opposite sides of the fairway, the par-4 9th has earned a reputation for being one of the toughest holes in all of Las Vegas. You d better hit it straight on the 9th. The club s greens are large and moderately undulating. Wildhorse Golf Club has long been recognized as an Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary for its environmental consciousness and stewardship. It is one of only seven such courses in Nevada.
