Rosewood Crawfish Festival
Since 2015, the Rosewood Crawfish Festival has brought Cajun cuisine and thousands of visitors to this Columbia neighborhood. The event occupies nearly a full city block, where 10,000 pounds of Louisiana crawfish—plus the boil’s potatoes and corn—are laid out for the taking. Live music on four different stages serenade the festival-goers, who can also chow down on fried alligator, gumbo, po’ boys, fish tacos, and turkey legs from about two dozen food vendors.
The Greater Rosewood Merchants Association uses a majority of the event’s proceeds for community-improvement projects, such as enhancing public safety and installing bike racks. The festival also includes the following:
- Crawdaddy Dash 5K: Starting an hour before the festival gates open, this 5K winds through the Rosewood neighborhood and showcases City Roots, a sustainable in-town farm that serves as the start and finish line.
- Li’l Crawdaddy Carnival: This family-friendly area features carnival rides, inflatables, face painting, crawfish races, and other activities for little ones.
- Artists’ Village: More than 40 artists and craftspeople from Columbia and the surrounding region exhibit their wares.
