About Haneeth House
Haneeth House is a sister company of the famous Yemen Café. Nestled in the city of Brooklyn, New York and founded by well-known Yemeni Executive Chef Yahya Alsubia. Chef Yahya was born in Yemen in 1958 and learned the art of cooking from his parents in his historical hometown of Rada’a. When Yahya moved to the United States in 1968, he brought with him the passion and love of cooking authentic Yemeni food. Yahya would prepare intricate savory Yemeni dishes for his friends and family in his humble two-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn, NY all the while holding a full-time job. Since they enjoyed his elaborate dishes so much, his friends and relatives would help in purchasing the ingredients needed, and that continued for over 15 years!
In 1986, the recession hit hard here in the USA and Yahya and many of his friends would soon be laid off from their jobs. Combining his passion for caring for his fellow immigrants and cooking, Yahya took a leap of faith and would open the first Yemeni Restaurant in America making international culinary history. Yemen Cafe was born and since its inception, it has flourished to three locations in New York, employing over 120 immigrants who share the same passion and love for cooking authentic Yemeni food.
Chef Yahya’s love to share his passion for Yemeni culinary cuisine wouldn’t be limited to the diverse hustle and bustle of New York alone. The talented Executive Chef has family roots in Michigan and decided to bring a taste of Yemen to the Great Lakes! He partnered with local successful Yemeni immigrants who share the same passion- the love of creating jobs for immigrants and genuine Yemeni food. Together they purchased an existing restaurant that now employs over 20 immigrants, cooking authentic Yemeni food with love and passion.
