What to Expect

The Hawaiian Adventures crew is serious about whale watching, and we pride ourselves on being the whale experts of the Big Island. Our naturalists migrate with the humpback whales from their feeding areas to breeding areas (we also run tours in the pacific northwest). We’re often the first to photo-identify the newest mom and calf pairs in Kona! Our team’s expertise and whale knowledge make for educational and entertaining tours. Upon arriving at the marina you’ll enjoy free, convenient parking with a short walk to our slip. Those Guys has both open-air and shaded viewing, padded seating, as well as a restroom for your comfort. As soon as we depart Honokohau Harbor, we’re in the Humpback zone. Our 2.5-3 hour tours often venture north in search of surface active whales, mom and calf pairs, and some of the largest concentrations of humpbacks in the area. Our naturalists will be pointing out whale behaviors and engaging with guests one-on-one throughout the tour. Humpback whales are famous for their deep dives and underwater songs. If the opportunity allows we’ll use our research-quality hydrophone to listen to this underwater symphony!

Between encounters, we’ll cruise the beautiful coastlines where we often find Hawaiian spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and surface mantas. Guests will enjoy our convenient schedule, small group style, and reasonable prices. If you’re on the Big island mid-Dec through March this tour is a must!
