It would take a giant or fine pair of stilts to avoid getting lost in the corn maze at Historic Hawes Farm. The stalks grow to 12 feet high around here, forming the boundary for two miles of maze trails. There's no need to be scared, however. Friendly "corn cops" give hints for making it out of the field, should you need it.

That sort of hospitality has long been a trademark of Historic Hawes Farm, which has been a staple in Anderson since 1863. Now, more than 150 years since those first crops were planted, the sixth generation of the Hawes family welcomes guests with special events such s concerts, Civil War reenactments, and fall activities. Come autumn, kids play in the corn box and families peruse pumpkins across a 17-acre patch with more than 50 varieties of gourds. After days spent riding the mechanical bull or soaring across a zip line, visitors gather around camp fires to roast hot dogs and s'mores.
