Kids are at their cutest when eating their first birthday cake, digging in utensil-free and smearing cake everywhere. With today's saucy Groupon, relive experiences, bib and all, that— as a grown-up manbaby or womanbaby—you remember only through photographs: for $7, you get $15 worth of slow-cooked and slathered meats at Hoggy's. Your Groupon is good at eight locations in and around Columbus, including Dublin, Polaris, New Albany, Grandview, Crestview Hills, Valley View Delaware, and Linworth.
Red-fingered sauce faces will appreciate the loving tenderness infused into every morsel of pork and other meats. Meats are smoked over applewood for hours to give them appetizing properties including falling off the bone, refreezing polar ice caps, and quelling big bad wolves. The environment resembles a barn that has been remodeled into a cozy country cabin that hasn't lost sight of its humble beginnings. The restaurants feature a full bar, hanging flat screens, and booths and seats as comforting as the feast upon the tabletop.
Barbecue holds a majority stake in the menu, although plenty of options are available for the anti-crowd. Order up a classic pulled pork or chicken dinner ($12.95), and get a heaping helping of marinated and tenderized meat served with a choice of two sides. Hoggy's offers more than 10 different sides, including made-from-scratch options, such as the award-winning mac-n-cheese, fluffy whipped sweet potatoes, and the ever-popular colossal onion rings ($6.95). Go the indecisive route with a combo plate, such as the grazer BBQ platter, which includes a sampler of ribs, pulled pork and chicken, beef brisket, plus samples of sides ($16.95). The menu also features a variety of sandwiches and wraps for a slightly less messy meal.
For the non-barbecue population, peruse the soup and salad options, or have your meat un-sauced by ordering from the Beyond the Q section, with options including Jamaican salmon ($14.95) or cajun-spiced, grilled haddock filet ($12.95). Offset a pigless plate by going hog wild with a few drinks from the full bar.
