Water slides are like active volcanoes—both melt away stress, propel fluids down super-steep slopes, and have a lot of screaming nubile women thrown down them. Leisurely lounge or ride the tidal-waved slides with today's deal: for $13, you get one general admission (a $26 value) to Island Waterpark, located off Shaw & 99.
Though Island Waterpark's attractions were designed solely to train families to survive shipwrecks on the high seas, they had the accidental side effect of delighting all ages and tastes in the process. Low-impact leisure begins at the long, looping, lazy river and ends at the 60,000 square feet of toe-sinking sand at Island Waterpark's Bondi Beach. For adrenaline junkies, more than 20 intimidatingly named water slides—including the Bermuda Tunnel of Terror, the Tokyo Typhoon, and the Mazatlan Plunge—test the factuality of gravity, and a voluminous wave pool loaded with roughly 500,000 gallons of water lets landlocked surfers ride the wrath of Poseidon, free from the restrictive bounds of lunar cycles or the blue-whale's mating season.
While doctors recommend waiting at least 30 minutes after meals before swimming, they neglected to mention arcade gaming, miniature golfing, or go-kart racing. The price of these activities are not included with today's Groupon to Island Waterpark, but they still provide a fun respite from the water if you notice signs of having spent too much time there, such as wrinkly fingers and rudimentary gills on the neck. Up to four Groupons can be bought per person, so you can finally apologize to your office car pool for all the times you cannon-balled into the car from the roof.
Reviews
Four Yelpers give Island Waterpark 4.5 stars, and four Judy's Bookers give it 3.8 stars:
- My kids love it there, and I love to see them smiling all day. There's plenty of lifeguards everywhere watching out for them and they are helpful and somewhat informative too. – nikki s., Yelp
- The island is a great place to go for some good wet fun. They have lots of different slides to choose from and they have a floating pool that you can just float if slides are not your thing. They also have an area for the children which is very nice. The kids had lots of fun and so did we. – Trina C., Judy's Book
