After falling in love with hot yoga in 2010, Jiva Hot Yoga's owner, Sybil, dreamed of opening her very own studio. So she trained in the Barkan Method and became a yoga teacher herself. Along the way, she found a mentor in her sister, Sharon, a fellow yoga teacher who believed so much in her sister's dream that she now works as the manager at Jiva.
The sisters both love how hot yoga releases stress, boosts flexibility, torches calories, and helps detoxify the body. Their Barkan classes take place in a room heated to 105 degrees, and their warm classes, such as Warm Soul Vinyasa, occur in a comfortable 85 degrees. They also offer Broga, a yoga class designed for men but open to all. They encourage participants to stay hydrated throughout the day before class and to cool off afterward by watching White Christmas.
