Professional race-car drivers have long been gathering in teahouses and bowling alleys to devise an eco-friendly manner of racing. Today’s Groupon reconciles this dilemma with four Arrive & Drive races (a $80 value), one additional race on your birthday (a $20 value), and an annual race license (a $5.95 value) at K1 Speed. With electric karts and 1/5 miles of fast concrete, you can embrace your inner speed-demon without fear of pedestrian casualties, a depleted ozone, or trips to speed-heck.

Housing some of the largest indoor go-kart racing in the state, K1 Speed delivers high speeds without the fear of repugnant oil stains with a distinctly fuel-y odor. Going electric (http://www.k1speed.com/karts.html) is cleaner, faster, and makes a fearless lead foot seem the slightest bit more sophisticated.

K1 Speed uses a ProScore system to gauge your skills against your aggressive other-half, friends, or other racers in the neighborhood. Indoor go-karting offers all the enlightenment of real-life racing with the charm of low-emissions technology and safety of state-required safety measures. Sate your speed demon with a bowlful of racing topped with fresh tire tracks and paired with a tall glass of ice cold rubber smell.

A day at the electric-car racetrack is the perfect way to make new friends, become a renaissance person, or display your ultracompetitive streak to a group of high-school students who follow you around after mistaking you for Kelsey Grammer.

Note: Today's Groupon is valid for one person over multiple visits and can not be shared with others.

Detective Speed, P.I.

This TV season, be sure to check out surefire hit, Detective Speed, P.I. This race-themed action-adventure stars JP McDale as professional race-car driver and amateur detective Thom Speed: He Drives Fast, He Loves Fast, He Solves Mysteries at a Reasonable Pace Considering Mystery Solving Is a Hobby. Here are the synopses of the first three episodes:

Episode One, “Fast As Speed”: Thom expects to win the Pepsi Very Berry Fruit-Flavored Carbonated Energy Beverage 500, but he doesn’t expect racing teammate Neal to turn up dead. Thom knows the racing scene in a way the police never could, so he investigates the only way he knows how: inelegantly. Along the way, he fights (and flirts!) with lady policewoman Alexandra.

Episode Two, “Mystery at 100 mph”: After placing third in the Virginia’s Best 5-Hour Energy Cigarette Night Race, Thom is called to a meeting with his unforgiving owner, Mr. Clement. When Thom arrives, Clement is dead, and instead of calling the police, Thom investigates on his own for a while before calling the police. By chance, Thom catches the real killer and the sexual tension between he and that lady cop drives America insane.

Episode Three, “Tire Tracks”: During a photo shoot for his sponsor, Budler Low Calorie Energy-cohol, Thom’s photographer turns up dead. Thom citizen-arrests his first suspect, then drives a race car to make love with attractive female law officer Alexandra. Eventually, Thom forgets about the photographer’s murder.
