About La Empanada Llama
Hailing from Peru, Maria T. Lloyd began her culinary adventures at festivals and farmers markets around the capital region under the name "Maria's Peruvian Delight." When her daughter, Andrea, graduated from college, they made the decision to open a restaurant, La Empanada Llama, to showcase her specialties to a wider audience.
Her signature empanadas come in a variety of flavors, both savory and sweet. The shredded cabbage & chorizo is a popular choice, along with the shrimp empanadas in a traditional Aji Amarillo sauce. For sweeter options, the dulce de leche is filled with caramel and coconut. The heartier main dishes include Aji De Gallina or roasted pork and come with a side of plantains or chickpeas with greens.
