About La Unica Restaurant
Though it's known for its Latin American cuisine—particularly its Cuban sandwiches, ropa vieja, and rice, black beans, and plantains—visitors to La Unica Food Mart & Restaurant would miss out if they passed up its flan. ABC7's "Hungry Hound" Steve Dolinsky praised the dessert, calling it creamy, soft, and smooth, and saying "I love this burnt sugar sauce ... and it's got such great mouthfeel."
To get to the flan at what Dolinsky deemed "one of the greatest places for Cuban food in Chicago," visitors should head to the cafeteria in the back of the food mart. On the way out, they can grab groceries and other products from Latin America and Spain, including uncommon beers and hard alcohol, imported beauty products, and fruit freshly plucked off a hat.
