Louis Tussaud Wax Museum
Ever since Marie Tussaud crafted her first wax figure back in 18th-century Paris, the Tussaud family name has been synonymous with these complex, life-like sculptures. The skill for this artisan craft passed down into the hands of her great-grandson Louis, who opened his own set of wax museums to carry on the family’s legacy. Many of Louis’s museums are still in operation, now operated by the masters of an oddity at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! At the Palace of Wax in Grand Prairie, guests come face-to-face with more than 200 famous likenesses, including sculptures of celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Johnny Depp, and the cast of Twilight. The museum also features Ripley’s 7D Moving Theater, Ripley’s trademark weirdness, with a section devoted to horror icons and a timeless Hall of Presidents that radiates civic pride.
