Lu Ann Lukenbach, owner of LuAnn's Cupcakes, remembers a young boy and his sister coming into her cupcake shop one day. The boy had just tried one of her cupcakes, and he insisted that his sister try one as well. "You'll think it's Christmas when you taste this," he said.
That's one of her favorite customer stories Lu Ann observed from behind the counter of her store, but hardly the only positive feedback she's gotten. She bakes her cupcakes smaller than the traditional big-as-your-head variety so people can taste more than one, which is good, because each of her 19 flavors is worth trying. Cupcakes are divided into categories on the menu: chocolate, citrus, traditional, and dessert-inspired. The dessert-inspired category includes flavors such as banana's foster, raspberry pie, and even crepe suzette, a vanilla cupcake with orange cream cheese frosting.
