Prior to its modern usage as a breathing device, a snorkel was once known as a terrifying monster, capable of living underneath both regular and water beds. Overcome subaquatic scares with today's Groupon from Makani Catamaran. Choose between the following options:
- For $26, you get a two-hour Honolulu City Lights Sail, plus food and choice of two drinks, available Saturday through Thursdays (a $53 value).
- For $32, you get the 2.5-hour Waikiki's Turtle Canyon snorkeling and sail combo, plus a small breakfast and choice of two drinks, available Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (a $64 value). Snorkeling equipment is included with this option.
Captained by 20-year sailing veteran Jon Jepson, Makani Catamaran traverses Hawaii's vast waters, introducing sightseeing voyagers to oceanic life. Combining ultrasonic sailing with charter-boat comfort, the Honolulu City Lights Sail busses passengers into Honolulu's setting sun, maintaining views of Waikiki's tropical shoreline. Buoyant bellies are treated to a variety of hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, as well as two beverages of choice. Wakiki's Turtle Canyon snorkel and sailing combo immerses shellbacks into maritime delight, acquainting nautical nuances with dog-paddling explorers under the supervision of a lifeguard. Equipping each cadet with snorkel gear, life jacket, and an Aquaman headshot for autographs, this option also includes a light breakfast and two beverages of choice.
On board, the Makani Catamaran is adorned with covered cabin seating, LCD television, surround sound, and sunbathing net areas. Approaching speeds up to 30 knots while under sail, windjammers are free to soak in the surrounding sights, which often include dolphins, sea turtles, and flying fish endowed with impervious capes. A full bar is also available. On either tour, participants are given $2 drink tickets toward their complimentary beverages, and can use them toward nonalcoholic beverages such as Pepsi, juice, and club soda ($2), Miller Lite beer ($2), and wine and mixed drinks ($4).
