About Mamma Maria
It's fitting that Mamma Maria first opened its doors on Mother's Day in 1992. After all, the restaurant's name is more than just a catchy title. Maria di Marco, affectionately known as "Mamma" to her guests, looks fondly at each customer who comes into her restaurant or dines out on the patio. She even shops like a loving mother, traveling to the Italian market each day to hand-select fresh ingredients for the restaurant.
Because of this, there's no set menu at Mamma Maria (though you can browse a sample one on her site). Once back in the kitchen, di Marco takes her ingredients and creates the food and drink of the day, drawing on a culinary tradition that stretches back to her native Abruzzi, Italy. She might cook the ever-popular hand-rolled gnocchi or make homemade limoncello, an Italian lemon liqueur. Customers fall in love with her eggplant parmigiana and flounder alla fiorentina.
