Kate welcomes this new chapter of her life, as she is eager to rejoin the workforce and finally put her own dreams before the needs of her children. Greg, however, finds himself frustrated and bored. While listlessly wandering the park, he stumbles upon the soulmate he didn’t realize he was missing: Sylvia, a young, blond labrador-poodle mix. Kate tries to be as supportive as she can, but troubles burble beneath their lived-in marriage as Greg spends more and more time with the talkative canine ingénue. The surreal humor of Sylvia’s unexplained sentience tints the narrative throughout, but the play is driven by the real emotions that accompany aging and coping with change.
