FAA Part 61 flight school employs certified flight instructors to guide aspiring aviators on 75-minute flights with Hamptons & shore views
Every time a bell rings, an airplane pilot laughs at the implausibility of the television show Wings. Experience the friendly skies from the air instead of your TV set with today's Groupon: for $99, you get an introductory Adventure Flight lesson from Mid Island Air Service at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma (a $250 value).
Mid Island Air Service has been taming the wild blue yonder since 1946, offering flight instruction through its FAA Part 61 flight school. Aspiring aviators take to the skies during a roughly 75-minute Adventure Flight lesson that begins with a preflight inspection of the aircraft under the guidance of a FAA-certified flight instructor before zooming off into the skies. Once in the air, eyes feast upon stunning views of the Hamptons, Long Island's shoreline, the toupées of any balding clouds. The flight instructor will also hand over the controls, allowing aviator apprentices to pilot the aircraft themselves. Upon touching back down, pilot novitiates will receive a First Flight Certificate and a commemorative photo to provide an icebreaker during conversations with sparrows.
