The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) is a cultural hub that tells the story of the Shenandoah Valley. Surrounded by 214 acres of natural beauty, the MSV is the largest green space in the city of Winchester. The MSV includes seven acres of formal gardens, a galleries building with permanent and changing exhibitions, a house dating to 1794, resident cows, and a 90-acre art park with trails.

Size: The Museum houses a permanent collection of over 11,000 objects, including fine and decorative arts, fully furnished miniature houses, and a collection of artifacts made in the Shenandoah Valley.

Eye Catcher: The towering stalks of bamboo in the recently-opened Bamboo Grove just east of the Museum’s Asian Garden.

Permanent Mainstay: The Museum’s seven-acre formal gardens include spring-fed ponds, statuary, sculpture, and a variety of garden “rooms” that boast a variety of color and blooming at different times of the year.

Don’t Miss: A favorite for visitors of all ages, the Miniatures Gallery presents a fascinating collection of miniature houses furnished with tiny masterpieces, and in the Changing Exhibitions Gallery, Danny Lyon: Memories of the Southern Civil Rights Movement (through July 31, 2022) and Destination Latin America (opens September 3, 2022).
