About Hooters

Although it now has hundreds of locations across the globe, Hooters wasn’t always welcome by the public. In fact, when it opened in 1983 in Clearwater, Florida, its founders were “quickly detained for impersonating restaurateurs,” according to its website. But the restaurant proved that it was serious about serving tasty American food and frosty brews, and its popularity exploded in the following decades.

Amid its beachy vibes and flat-screen TVs, Hooters fuels appetites with chicken wings, burgers, sandwiches, and fresh salads. And nobody carries those casual eats and icy pitchers better than the Hooters girls. To complement their friendly smiles, their uniforms hark back to those of the original waitresses in 1983: orange hot shorts and white tank tops bearing the restaurant's emblematic owl.
