Climb aboard Kemah Boardwalk's Boardwalk Bullet, and you'll get a fantastic view of Galveston Bay from the rides's 92-foot summit, just before it plunges into high-speed twists and turns. The classic wooden coaster is far from the only ride at Kemah Boardwalk: get your adrenaline flowing with a freefall at the Drop Zone tower, or a 40 MPH speedboat voyage aboard the Boardwalk Beast (*the Boardwalk Beast ride schedule changes based on the season; check schedule online. Afterwards, test your luck at the games on the Midway, then tuck into a bucket of shrimp or a sizzling steak on the Boardwalk, studded with restaurants and shops.

• The rides: From intense rides like the Iron Eagle or the Pharoah's Fury to the kid-friendly double-decker carousel and Jungle Bounce, there's something for the whole family.
