Poetry would be comprised entirely of haikus and sonnets dedicated to cakes and pastries if poets didn't devour their idyllic subjects before having a chance to write. Say what meter and rhythm cannot with today’s Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of breads, pastries, deli meat, and more at National Bakery & Deli. Redeem this Groupon at your choice of National Bakery's Milwaukee, Brookfield, or downtown Greendale location.

Voted the Milwaukee area’s Best Bakery by CityVoters in 2008 and 2009, National Bakery & Deli invites patrons to get lost in a flavor-crowded menu of mouthwatering baked goods, customizable cakes, and a smorgasbord of savory deli meats, cheeses, and made-to-order sandwiches. Start your day on a sweet note by wolfing down a couple of soft donuts ($0.69–$0.99 each) such as the cherry-and-lemon Honeymooner and the glazed-and-sugared Cheese Pocket. National Bakery’s dinner rolls ($4.32 for a dozen) could make a meal on their own, but sandwich mavens and aspiring archeologists can also layer them with thick slices of the deli’s baked ham ($6.29 per pound) for some excavatable stratified sustenance. If you're planning a party or auditioning to be a patient on America's Most Daring Dentist, have the bakery create a chocolate, yellow, marble, or banana-flavored cake ($16.58–$151.11), topped with whipped cream or buttercream icing and filled with fruit or custard.

Since its inception in 1925 in an old Polish neighborhood, National Bakery & Deli has expanded to three convenient locations. Each storefront touts the same friendly, cheerful service, so customers needn't ever feel shy about asking about what’s in a raisin-glazed paczki or what kind of muffin could be the star of its own courtroom drama.

About National Bakery and Deli

Glass cases and racks of fresh bread dominate National Bakery & Deli’s three locations, which bake all of their goods fresh daily. Founded in 1925, the bakery continually recreates classic recipes for a menu that includes glazed doughnuts, frosted cookies, and cherry-filled coffee cake, as well as hard rolls and french bread. Deli fare includes baked ham, seasonal polish sausage, and several varieties of potato salad. In addition to their staples and custom cake orders, the bakery creates seasonal specialties that range from spring’s grasshopper pie and irish soda bread to winter’s gingerbread men and icy snowman souls. Every Mardi Gras, the bakery churns out piles of prune- and raspberry-filled paczki in a celebrated rush that has drawn great press—though patrons can make every Tuesday fat by perusing their year-round paczki selection.
