Teaming up with local pie shop proprietress Mrs. Lovett, Todd opens a barbershop – where he slits the throats of customers, and she bakes them into pies to dispose of the evidence. A legendary smash in 1979, this darkly comic show won eight Tony Awards, and The New York Times gushed, “Sondheim’s most ravishing score.
