Numerous ecological regulations impact our fish, yet few volunteers are interested in doing the hard work of registering them to vote. Canvass your local waterways with today's Groupon for a 2.5-hour tour with guided instruction from Next Adventure. Participants must register by phone, and no experience is necessary. Choose between the following options:
- For $30, you get a kayaking trip on Saturday or Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m (a $40 value).
- For $20, you get a kayaking trip on a weekday, Tuesday–Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., or from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m (a $40 value).
Now that Ross Island has begun to recover from years of mining, many species of birds once again call its riparian areas home, and this trip grants kayakers the chance to get an up-close gander at the regenerating flora and fauna. Shove off from the Sellwood Park boat ramp while securely snuggled in a safe, stable, sober, and beginner-friendly recreational kayak. Paddling alongside an experienced, doting guide, tour-goers have the chance not only to experiment with the sensations of kayaking (tingling, the taste of mint) but to whip out their binoculars and potentially spy osprey, eagles, herons, and other elegant avians. A semi-wild forest hidden in plain sight waits to be explored from the water as adventurers row and tinker with all the necessary equipment provided by Next Adventure.
Next Adventure prides itself on supplying irrational inspiration and enthusiasm with rational, durable equipment. Since tours with guided instruction are usually capped at six, guests will receive plenty of supervision and totally stoked encouragement from their aqualeader, and perhaps even a nugget of zen-like wisdom that propels them into a life spent kayaking, even for minor trips to the drugstore.

About Next Adventure Portland Paddle Sports Center
Though Next Adventure arms adventurers with a range of outdoor gear, from standup paddleboards to alpine-ski gear for the winter months, the kayak is its specialty. Beyond the shop's sale and rental inventory of sit-on-top, whitewater, sea, and touring styles, instructors impart the ins and outs of paddling in the Next Adventure Kayak School. Their classes cover topics such as sea and whitewater kayaking, basic strokes, and techniques for rolling the vessel upright when it's overturned in the middle of a rapid. Guides also lead regular trips across the water to local landmarks such as Sauvie Island and Rooster Rock.
