As a crucial part of the Columbia Film Society, the Nickelodeon Theatre's mission is to provide space for critical dialogue, enrichment, and interpretation of films of—and for —the local community. Since its opening in 1979, the theater has been an important spot on the cultural map of Columbia. Drawing over 70,000 attendees a year, The Nick organizes screenings of independent films, curated series, and special community events that aim to celebrate diversity, inspire, and educate movie-enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds.
