Now that the season of reindeer-guided sleighs has ended, today’s side deal gives you a 21st-century method of traversing the frozen North that doesn’t involve replacing your feet with cybernetic toboggans. For $75, you get a two-hour guided tour of New Hampshire’s Mount Washington Valley region through Northern Extremes (a $95 value). Tours start from Northern Extremes’ headquarters in Bartlett, New Hampshire.
An experienced Northern Extreme motor-sledder will guide you on a 20- to 30–mile, closed-loop trek through the beautiful New Hampshire countryside. Along the way, you’ll be treated to postcard-worthy views of Mount Washington and historic Fryeburg, Maine. Your guide will also help you spot local wildlife—including possible sightings of a moose. And not some digitized Big Buck Hunter caricature of a moose, either—a real, live, snorting, foraging, bigger-than-you-ever-expected, majestic moose.
Best of all, you get to do it all from astride one of Northern Extremes’ fleet of fine-tuned, deep-purring 2005 and 2006 Arctic Cat single, double, and touring snowmobiles. Snow trails are patrolled and groomed daily, so you’re assured an exciting but safe trip. Northern Extreme accommodates slow-moving large groups by breaking them down into smaller, speedier groups, so go ahead and invite along a whole convoy of your fellow snow cowboys and Bullwinkle groupies.
Valid Sunday through Friday only. Not valid 12/26/09 to 1/3/10 and 2/13/10 to 2/21/10.
