Oheka Castle roosts on a 23-acre estate that has been featured in films such as Citizen Kane and The Emperor's Club. A wrought-iron gateway opens up for a short drive down a tree-lined path that exposes the turreted castle walls of Oheka's French-chateau design. Each of Oheka's guestrooms is unique in floor plan and decoration—furnished by individually curated collections and bathroom fixtures—and houses a queen-, king-, or court-jester-size bed and private bath. The 11 Chateau guestrooms glean their designs from the same muse as the hotel itself, swathing patrons within marbled walls in simple, elegant lodgings. Pulling inspiration from the Metropolitan Opera, the 15 Whitney guestrooms outfit restrooms with claw-foot or Jacuzzi-style bathtubs and living areas with couches and candelabra chandeliers fancier than top hats filled with Grey Poupon.
During their stay, guests can stroll through a vast stone courtyard or Oheka's symmetrical formal gardens amid reflective pools, a fountain centerpiece, and a gazebo overlooked by stone classical statues. A library swaddles patrons in plush upholstered couches and club chairs as leather-bound volumes expand minds like a raft blown up by Ben Franklin. Complimentary continental breakfast can be enjoyed in the formal dining room as eyes rove over ornate crown moldings, Roman statues, and landscape paintings. Dogs are welcome at Oheka, although a $200 nonrefundable deposit will apply.
