Recommended for novice drivers as well as those with years of gear shifting experience, the course measures reaction time, bolsters defensive driving, and counsels on techniques for driving through ice, snow, and cotton candy tumbleweeds. Students use virtual simulators to mimic real-life driving situations, focusing on accident avoidance through effective braking and steering methods, followed by actual in-car learning behind the wheel of the Skid Monster and navigating through a cone course. Students are recommended but not required to have accumulated 10 hours of driving experience or completed a second behind-the-wheel driving lesson with the Oregon Driver Education Center in order to enroll in the course.
