Upon entry, each competitor dons a pair of protective goggles, then charges into the fray, gripping a rented Tippmann 98 Platinum Series marker and a paint-splattered teddy bear for good luck. Lock and load 500 paintballs and march to Code Black Field, a concrete jungle of bunkers with wide spaces between cover, or deploy units to Turmoil Field, a wooded battlefront of defunct vehicles and claustrophobic buildings.
