After inventing geometry and physics, Greeks invented history—primarily as a way to document their many inventions. Take a stroll through history with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get a guided tour of Kennedy Bunker for two adults, which is located on Peanut Island in Riviera Beach and provided by the Palm Beach Maritime Museum (a $20 value). Tours are available Thursday–Sunday, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Fully restored by the Palm Beach Maritime Museum, the Kennedy Bunker was once the makeshift presidential nuclear war contingency site during the oft-tense Cuban Missile Crisis. Couples enter through a hulking camouflage door, where a blast-hardened tunnel leads them sharply down a circular decontamination tunnel and into the main bunker. Embossed with the presidential seal, the preserved room was designed for President Kennedy to carry out U.S. operatives or deal games of keno during a potential nuclear attack. Stop by the museum gift shop for a snack, beverage, or souvenir to bolster a snow globe collection.

Located amid historic buildings dating back to 1936, Palm Beach Maritime Museum exudes a rich past while hosting regular outdoor music shows. Once couples access the island by water taxi or boat, many spend the day playing horseshoes, volleyball, or firing up non-nuclear foodstuffs in the barbecue pits.
