The Feldenkrais Method started when Moshe Feldenkrais needed to learn to walk again after suffering from a severe injury. Mastering this process inspired him to develop his own exercise method. This method is based on returning the body to the infant-like motion learning state. It aims to break down the movent habits ingrained into the nervous system to create more efficient ones.

The first part of the Feldenkrais Method is one-on-one treatments, called Functional Integration sessions. The practitioner uses manipulation and passive movements to aid the client with aches and pains or to help with neuro-skeletal concerns on a larger scale. The second stage of the method is group classes that teach new movement habits through a variety of exercises.
