Making something from scratch is usually accompanied by intense feelings of gratification, whether you're making a dinner for someone you love or a stink bomb for someone you don't. Achieve artisanal satisfaction with today's Groupon: for $25, you get enrollment in an Art of Making Pizza class (a $65 value) at Piatti Pronti in Arlington Heights. Classes are available Monday and Tuesday from 6 p.m.–7:30 p.m. Groupon customers should call ahead to schedule their time.

During 90-minute classes held in Piatti Pronti's spacious kitchen, founder and executive chef Lucia Biscaglio lends pupils the skills to create rustic, handmade pizzas. Burgeoning pizzaoli will learn to make dough from scratch, craft the perfect combination of ingredients, and catch airborne disks with their faces. Pies are then baked, sliced, and enjoyed by proud participants, who may bring any beer or wine to complement their creations. Students will be able to take the remainder of their dough home for future pizza parties or Flat Earth Society meetings, and the night draws to a close with a surprise homemade dessert created by the chef.

About Piatti Pronti: Art of Making Pizza: Out of Business

40 years ago, the initials heading C&D Towing stood for the Cicero & Devon Texaco gas and service station, founded by brothers Val and Joe Strumberger. Today they've come to stand for "Capable and Dependable," the values carried by the tow truck drivers who rescue cars and trucks of all sizes from a future spent trying fruitlessly to hitch a ride from passing semis. Along with gently rolling vehicles onto a fleet of handsome red trucks, C&D's technicians can protect and resuscitate them with services including jumpstarts, tire changes, seasonal safety checks, and electrical work.
