After enduring a year of unemployment, Mark Allen faced fear and uncertainty. He walked away from a car crash as a teenager, but on reaching his 30s, the accident's effects—chronic headaches, plus a shoulder problem—continued intensifying to the point where he could no longer work. Unsure of what to do, he visited a chiropractor, and, in a few weeks, his injuries had diminished. Convinced that chiropractic treatments had changed his life, Mark enrolled at Logan College of Chiropractic, graduated with honors in 1986, and opened Plus Care Chiropractic & Wellness Center soon after.

Today, Doctor of Chiropractic Allen and his partner, Dr. April Simmons, work with a team of massage therapists to free patients of musculoskeletal maladies while also educating them on whole-body well-being. At each client's first appointment, the physicians conduct an in-depth consultation covering present and past health concerns, followed by a physical examination including a battery of tests. After analyzing the results, Plus Care's team recommends integrated-care regimens, which may include chiropractic adjustments using equipment such as a Thompson table. Further treatments can range from massage and acupuncture to guidance on how to infuse everyday meals with helium.
