Free yourself from the chains of chain restaurants with a hopping Mexican joint that’s boldly declared its independence. With today’s Groupon, $10 gets you $25 worth burritos, tacos, margaritas, and whatever else you can find on the menu at Raging Burrito & Taco. Just a few miles outside downtown Atlanta, this Decatur favorite has been serving up neatly wrapped flavor fests since 1996, historically proven to be the best year for food and the best year for magicians starring on sitcoms.

The Cali-Mex cuisine incorporates typical and atypical ingredients on a menu featuring both traditional and game-changing dishes. The pineapple jerk burrito comes with jerk chicken (or tofu), pineapple salsa, roasted red pepper, rice, beans, and cheese ($8.35). Get some oriental in your Mexican with the Tokyo teriyaki burrito, which is sesame-teriyaki chicken, tofu, or steak with mushrooms, broccoli, caramelized onions, rice, and beans ($8.35). You can also build your own burrito, with options from basic to raging monster ($4.95–$8.50, depending on size and number of ingredients). Though burritos are the main draw, Raging Burrito brings plenty of other options along for the food rampage, including tacos, quesadillas, and salads. The Thai salad, a customer favorite, comes with marinated meat of tofu over lettuce with a smattering of ingredients, topped with a Thai peanut sauce ($7.95).

With a gorgeous patio and decorative interior, the restaurant’s ambience is as tasty as the food, but less edible. Its tall ceilings and open-armed employees make diners feel cozy but not stuffy, creating the perfect atmosphere to let loose after work or on a date. The lengthy drink menu provides a long list of potential catalysts to do just that. Margaritas are available by the glass or pitcher. Skip the fluff and go straight to the source with a few 1.5-oz. samples off the impressive Tequila list. There are also a number of Mexican import beers, with select micro-brews adding a little American comfort into the mix.

Note: Groupon is not valid with other offers or Fridays after 5 p.m. Limit one per table.

  • This is our go to spot for dining in Atlanta. They always have had great service on my twice per week visits and big garden patio, strong margaritas, and the best California style Mexican around. We have been regulars since I moved here in 1998. – fatTireinGAfinally, Urbanspoon
  • If you like burritos then you need to get to this spot. The food is the bomb. The only thing negative i can say about Raging is we more locations, we drive from Duluth. – dsmithwick, Citysearch
  • Last night was my first visit to the Raging Burrito, I ordered the fish and shredded beef taco platter and I have to say that they were by far the best tacos that I've ever had! Not bland like most of the tacos of other restaurants that I have tried, these were unique and full of flavor. – rkrrich, Citysearch

Contain Your Rage

Despite the name, the food and drinks at Raging Burrito will not make you angry; they may actually soothe you. When you can't get your hands on a rage-reducing burrito, try these anger remedies for common vexing situations:

At The Dentist
The Situation: "I can tell you haven't been flossing," your dentist tells you, but you have. Maybe not everyday, but you've been flossing. Your anger builds.
The Solution: Take a deep breath! Your dentist is just mad because his cat and his baby don't get along.

At the Drive-In
The Situation: The double feature of Angels in The Outfield and The Piano is being ruined by members of a motorcycle gang loudly playing the card game Uno.
The Solution: Don't raise your voice. Instead, enter a mentoring relationship with the gangsters by impressing them with close-up magic.

At the Seed Store
The Situation: Out of hydrangea seeds! Out of hydrangea seeds?! Your skin can barely contain your rage.
The Solution: Burn down the seed store. Skip town. Get a new face. Sometimes anger has its place.
