Since cheetah shoes don't yet exist and a tree stump with a saddle on it is hopelessly immobile, bicycles remain the best way to tour a city. See the sights in two-wheeled fashion with today's Groupon: for $12, you get a one-day bike rental from Ray’s Bike Rentals (up to a $25 value).

Bipeds travel the shores of Sandy Hook in new wheel-powered ways with Ray’s Bike Rentals’ rentable two-wheelers. Cyclers hop on pavement-skimming steeds, exploring more than 7 miles of trails that meander along the beach past historic Fort Hancock and up to the Sandy Hook Lighthouse. Patrons can also pedal to the Audubon Society’s Sandy Hook Bird Observatory, through the Horseshoe Cove salt marsh, or catch views of New York Harbor from the North Beach Observation Deck.

Children’s rentals come with helmets included, and adults can rent a helmet for an additional $2. All cycling captains receive locks to protect their bikes against curious birds or the bike's inherent curiousity. Steer over to Ray’s website for information on locations and times.

Today he's hopped off the seat to give others a chance to ride. He and co-owner Cathy have set up their bike-rental kiosk at the ferry pier in Fort Hancock. They rent beach cruisers, multi-gear bikes, and tandems. For families, they rent kid-size bikes as well as bike carts for children and tag-alongs.
