Though saber-tooth tigers and wooly mammoths were early candidates for domestication, their habits of chasing their own tusks and playfully goring visitors were too much for cave-owners to bear. Celebrate the refinement of their mild-mannered substitute with today's Groupon: for $30, you get a 30-minute doggie swim with your choice of a full day of daycare or an overnight stay in a 4'x8' doggie dorm room at Boston Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa on Southampton Street (an $81 total value).
A luxurious 33,000-square-foot pet hotel with pooch-pleasing rooms and amenities, Boston Red Dog offers dogs a social space to swim, scamper, and sleep under the round-the-clock supervision of owners and staff. The indoor aquatics center douses doggies during warm-water exercises that treat arthritis, increase endurance, and build confidence for asking out the curvaceous sharpei staying in suite six (a $35 value). The 30-minute swim works out pups in zero-impact cardio, allowing pooches to splash alongside a fitness practitioner and hone their titular paddle. Following aqueous frolics, pooches may run loose amid fellow four-legged friends with the doggie-daycare option (a $30 value). Here Boston Red Dog provides a supervised forum for socializing, playing, and trying out tenors for a moon-serenading choir.
Pamper your most loyal friend with an overnight boarding in a 4'x8' size dorm room complete with a private play area (a $46 value). The rooms foster friendly interaction between guests, allowing boarders to bark, yap, or engage in riveting discourses of Dadaist literature. Register your canine companion during regular hours of operation, along with all house-related paperwork and vaccination records. Both the Boston Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa and Groupon will each donate $1 to the Animal Rescue League of Boston for every Groupon sold.

About Boston Red Dog Pet Resort and Spa
Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa founder Ray Schneider believes in pampering pets and providing them with the care they deserve. As he told Dan Monk of the Business Courier, "It’s a relationship that’s very hard to explain. When you have a dog, you can understand it.” The Blue Ash resident and entrepreneur created the sprawling, 25,000-square-foot pet hotel—and opened its second and third facilities located in Mason and Boston—because he realizes the lengths to which people will go to care for their furry friends.
Since opening in Cincinnati in 2008, Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa and it's two other facilities in Mason and Boston, have been on a mission to provide five-star service to its four-legged friends. Swathed in upscale atmosphere, the spa is outfitted with all the comforts of home and more; after touring the facilities, Jeff Elkus of David's Voice said, "I wish the last resort I visited had half the amenities of Red Dog." Dogs can stay in private, themed boarding suites with flat-screen TVs and owner-monitored webcams. They exercise and socialize in climate- and airflow-controlled play areas, romp in a three-acre dog park, and don buoyancy vests to soothe achy joints in the heated aquatic center. The hotel also has an air filtration system that cleans air six times per hour. They offer multilevel lodging for cats, as well as canine grooming and training services. Schneider hired and trained a staff for 24-hour supervision and care.
