Today's side deal reminds you that even if you weren't born to be wild, you can still be schooled to be wild: for $165, you get a three-session motorcycle training class (about 15 hours) from Ride Chicago, a $295 value. The motorcycle, helmet, and gloves are provided. No riding experience is necessary, but before taking your class you must obtain a motorcycle permit from the Illinois Secretary of State, and you must also have a valid Illinois driver's license. You must also bring to class long denim pants, a long-sleeve shirt or jacket, and over-the-ankle shoes or boots. Straddle a hog at any of three Chicagoland locations: on S Damen in West Town, Bridgeview, and Hoffman Estates. Many classes are in the morning or mid-afternoon; check the schedule to spot your ideal upcoming course.

Ride Chicago's basic licensing class encompasses all the foundational riding skills, including controls, shifting, turning, hazard avoidance, weather-conditional handling, picking bugs from your teeth, and more. The small class size of 6-11 students guarantees you the individual attention and support of Ride Chicago's experienced instructors. At the end of your course you'll know everything you need to obtain a motorcycle-driving license. Aside from becoming one so-bad and very, very safe motorcyclist, completing this course entitles you to major insurance discounts.

About Ride Chicago

Ride Chicago and Rentaruckus are two different businesses that are bonded by their passion for promoting two-wheeled transportation. At Ride Chicago, this passion manifests in a variety of classes, for which it supplies beginners with motorcycles or scooters. Once student riders are geared up, the facility’s state-certified instructors teach everything from scooter-riding basics to motorcycle licensing at controlled, off-street sites across the city and suburbs. This diverse curriculum allows people of all riding experiences to climb aboard a two-wheeler and learn safe canyon-hopping methods.

Rentaruckus’s mission is a bit more concise: get people behind the handlebars of a Honda Ruckus scooter. To do this, the staff offers rentals and organizes tours of Chicago, where swarms of the minimalist bikes buzz past the city’s historic neighborhoods and sights.
