Get where you need to go without challenging your human status with today’s Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of segway, paddleboard, scooter, kayak, canoe, or bike rentals at Robin Hood Rentals on Siesta Key.

Robin Hood Rentals equips land and water leisurists with the means to peddle, paddle, and putter throughout Siesta Key—dubbed the country's Best Beach in 2011 by the venerable Dr. Beach. Self-guided segway gliders deftly maneuver paths and past possessed sand crabs ($49 for two hours), or an ensemble of four can embark upon a canoe ride leading deep into the belly of the Jim Neville Wildlife Preserve ($99 for the day). Paddleboards ($50/day) and kayaks ($45/day for singles, $55 for doubles) sate solitary aquanauts, and bikes provide a launch pad for perusing the gulf's white-sand shorelines ($40/week). In addition to encouraging languid explorations, Robin Hood Rentals invites adventurists to zip around the palm-populated back roads aboard a 49cc, automatic scooter, replete with an extra seat and walk-in closet to accommodate riding companions ($45 for four hours; must have driver's license).

Origin Stories: The Heroic Outlaw of Siesta Key

Mark Toomey once helmed his own recruitment firm in Nottingham, England, on the outskirts of Sherwood Forest, but a disdain for damp winters led him to the sun-drenched beaches of Siesta Key, where he divides his time between diving with local aquabots and wrestling 24-pound bonehead sharks from the gulf waters. Since opening Robin Hood Rentals in 2009, Mark has persevered through what he calls "Florida's harshest winter in 30 years" (temperatures teetered near the freezing mark). Ornery winds didn't stop his most loyal clientele, particularly one enthusiastic teen who rented a segway nearly every day until he finally broke down and bought one. The teen's passion, in turn, got Mark interested in renting segways to sightseers from near and far.

About Robin Hood Rentals

Mark Toomey once helmed his own recruitment firm in Nottingham, England, on the outskirts of Sherwood Forest, but a disdain for damp winters led him to the sun-drenched beaches of Siesta Key. Since opening Robin Hood Rentals in 2009, Mark has persevered through what he calls "Florida's harshest winter in 30 years," during which temperatures teetered near the freezing mark. He equips visitors with rental land-based and aquatic craft that let them explore the area without having to saddle a horse or propose to a dolphin.

From its perch near the Jim Neville Marine Preserve, the company fits cyclists with a range of beach, mountain, and tandem bicycles; matches riders to a fleet of two-seat 49cc automatic scooters; and trains visitors to venture off on newer-model i2 LeanSteer Segways. They also let kayakers explore the local waterways from sunrise into the nighttime.
