The Sarasota Medieval Fair immerses guests in the olden days of England’s Dark Ages through 75 daily performances held on 11 stages and interactions with in-character actors. This year’s Peasant’s Revolt theme promises swathes of high drama as serfs rise in protest of Richard II’s unfair taxes and John of Gaunt’s inaccurate Julius Caesar impressions. Attend visceral rounds of jousting performed in one of four authentic medieval styles, or peruse artisan crafts at a sprawling marketplace, eyeballing stained glass, candles, or fantasy artwork brushed into being by noted artist Jasmine Becket-Griffith (November 19 and 20 only). Children adopt new looks thanks to the timeless art of face painting, or catalyze conversations with jokers, kings, and the sentient eight of diamonds found wandering the village grounds.
