About Seattle Home & Garden Show
The first Seattle Home & Garden Show took place in 1939 at the old Civic Auditorium, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and William Randolph Hearst. At the time, it boasted a peppy theme designed to help people shake their Great Depression blues: "Things look fine for '39."
That particular slogan has lost its relevance in the intervening decades, but the Seattle Home & Garden Show has not. The event still draws crowds every spring and fall, delighting homeowners with hundreds of exhibits. Some highlight the area's best remodelers, while others focus on innovations in landscaping, decor, and furniture, including collapsible beds that fit in your evening clutch. Educational seminars and wine tastings round out the event.
