$1,999 for LASIK Surgery for Both Eyes ($5,000 Value)
Before ever turning the keys in the laser's ignition, Dr. Selkin runs up to two hours of diagnostic tests to determine LASIK candidacy and chart detailed color maps of qualified patients' eyeballs using Orbscan and Zywave wavefront technology. Scans reveal individual characteristics and thickness of eyes. The surgery itself is an in-office procedure that lasts only a few minutes, during which the doctor uses a microkeratome to cut a thin flap in the eyes' surface and a laser to reshape nearsighted, farsighted, or astigmatic corneas. Vision is usually better immediately after the treatment and continues to improve over the first 24 hours as the eyes heal. If necessary, Dr. Selkin will recommend a postoperative exam to check up on the final results.
