About Sheba's Ethiopian Kitchen
Traditional Ethiopian food can be hard to find in the US, let alone in the middle of Dallas. Not so at the intersection of Greenville Avenue and Forest Lane, though, a point around which Ethiopian restaurants crowd. But even in such a saturated corridor of African cuisine, Sheba's stands out as a destination not to be skipped.
Opened by the former owners of the original Queen of Sheba in Uptown, Sheba's presents guests with Ethiopian food fine-tuned by years of experience. Atop plates of injera—a spongy bread that almost resembles a crêpe—cooks expertly place dollops of specialty dishes, creating palettes of colorful, flavorful cuisine. A few popular choices include braised greens, spicy lentils, and doro wat, Ethiopia's national dish of stewed chicken and hard-boiled eggs. But perhaps the place's most traditional option is its kitfo, a blend of exotic spices and finely chopped beef that can be served cooked or—if customers want to do it right—raw.
