Although more than 500 inches of snow blanket Solitude Mountain Resort's 1,200 acres every year, the cluster of rolling peaks and canyons aren't for skiing alone. Sure, during colder months, 65 designated trails host prime skiing; but in the warmer months, the mountain transforms. The resort's Sunrise chairlift hoists passengers nearly 1,000 feet over the summer foliage of the Wasatch Mountains, revealing the bare splendor of the Honeycomb Canyon—some of the mountain's most vertical terrain—and the Nordic Center, where all the mountain's Vikings live. And without skis, nature explorers can journey along 20 miles of single-track trails on rented mountain bikes or hybrid mountain scooters.
