Snow has two positive uses: it can be used to build snow-jurors when neighbors don't show up to serve in a non-binding apartment court, and you can ski on it. Celebrate snow's acceleratory capabilities with today's Groupon: for $79, you get two adult lift tickets (up to a $158 value) at Snowshoe Mountain, in Snowshoe, West Virginia. The first day you can use this Groupon is February 21, 2011.

Nestled in the rolling terrain of the Monongahela National Forest, Snowshoe Mountain offers more than 240 acres of downhill escapades. With five terrain parks and 60 trails, which are suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced skiers and boarders, Snowshoe welcomes snow-slingers and extreme-tubers of all ages and skill levels. Amateur snow goers can comfortably test the slippery slopes on the beginner-friendly Powder Ridge, Whiffletree, and Powder Monkey runs, while expert foot-paddlers can make good on their bravado by scaling the vindictive trail of Shay's Revenge, a steep, rough, and rugged 1,500-foot descent into a pool of Picabo Street bobbleheads. An all-day lift ticket (up to a $79 value) grants alpine riders daytime access to the downhill runs of the Snowshoe Basin, Western Territory, and Silver Creek areas from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If nocturnal slope wrangling is your shtick, the ticket also gets you into the Silver Creek area from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Hop aboard one of the 15 chair lifts that service the mountain's powdery slopes, and skid, slide, and flop your way to an elusive state of happiness. In addition to the mass quantities of snow that fall upon the Snowshoe area, the resort's skilled snow groomers are capable of manufacturing snow on every crest, peak, and plucked eyebrow of the mountain.

This Groupon does not include equipment rental, so you can either bring your own or rent equipment from Snowshoe Mountain. Save money by booking your rentals in advance.
