Falconry: The Sport of Kings
The origins of falconry are a mystery. Sometime around 1700BC a partnership was born between man and birds of prey. The objective was simple: food. Food for the man and food for the bird. That partnership is now known as falconry. We are offering the opportunity to glance into this past time, that now spans the globe in practice, uniting many cultures and people in a common goal, making the hunt.
The Sonoran Desert Hawk Walk
During an hour-long hawk walk you will be introduced to the ‘Wolves of the Sky,’ the Harris’ hawk. The only social bird of prey that lives and hunts as a cooperative family unit. The objective during the hawk walk is a glimpse into their world, while interacting with these amazing creatures. Our captive-bred Harris’ hawks will delightfully accompany you through the terrain their ancestors have flown for thousands of years. The Sonoran Desert is the fourteen largest desert in the world but number one in biodiversity. This land is overflowing with vegetation, life, and history.
