What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Soukal Floral Greenhouses has been family owned and operated for 99 years. We grow many different types of annuals in individual pots packs hanging baskets and decorative combo pots. We are one of only a few growing greenhouses located in the city of Chicago. What we grow and how we doit is special.
Of the products you sell, which are your favorites?
Proven Winner plants individually or in hanging baskets and decorative combo pots. A full line of all types of annuals in packs or full flats. We grow all types of vegetables and specialize in tomato plants grown on site pesticide free. Potted rose bushes and hydrangeas in bloom are ready May 1st.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
This business began in 1916 by my great grandfather. Many family members today still contribute to keep this blooming masterpiece going. Watching a seed or a small cutting develop into a full blooming flower is satisfaction in itself.
What do you love most about your job?
Different seasons have different types of flowers. From July to December is our Christmas Poinsettia season. Currently we are in our spring season growing a wide variety of plants. After a long winter seeing these plants develop and fully bloom really makes you feel real good.
