On the border of untamed wilderness, with the Sierra Nevada mountains at its back, Ascent Spa at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite is an oasis among the evergreens. Yet where most spas provide an escape from the outside world, this one seeks to connect its visitors with the forest around it. How?

  • With an Earthy Design: Tall plants and a cascading fountain accent Ascent's lobby. This motif continues throughout the 10,000-square-foot space, from the 12 treatment rooms to the relaxation room, where pictures of sunlit canopies and pressed leaves await.

  • With Services for Outdoorsy Guests: The spa respects that many of its clients are itching to explore the national park at its doorstep. Therefore an entire section of its menu is devoted to treatments that take 30 minutes or less. One is the Hiker's Delight Foot Treatment, which soothes soles that are weary from mountain paths.
