About Space Needle
If you're a native to Seattle, if you've never left the East Coast, if all of your family lives deep beneath the Earth's crust—it doesn't matter. You know the Space Needle. Towering 605 feet above the sparkling waters of Puget Sound, overlooking downtown Seattle and Elliott Bay, the Needle rises 832 steps from bottom to top—or 41 seconds in an elevator. Then, within the disc-shaped Observation Deck, guests can look through Swarovski telescopes at puttering ferries and St. Marks Cathedral's candlelit choirs, and finally greet Mount Rainier as an equal.
Also atop the needle spins the restaurant SkyCity, helmed by Chef Jeff Maxfield. This veteran of the James Beard House specializes in crafting meals that embody the produce and seafood of Puget Sound for brunch, lunch, and dinner. And while guests dine, they'll also sate their appetite for amazing views thanks to the restaurant's 360º rotation and walls of windows.
