The Spokesman-Review has roots that stretch back to the late 19th century, when two rival newspapers— The Spokane Falls Review and The Spokesman —consolidated into one publication. William Cowles took seat as the newspaper's editor. For decades behind his desk, Mr. Cowles kept a statement of his journalistic policy, which stated The Spokesman-Review had "no friends to favor or enemies to punish."

More than 135 years later, The Spokesman-Review continues to set the bar for journalistic integrity. The historic newspaper has broken numerous controversial stories over the decades, but it has also earned its fair share of recognition: in 1993, it was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and in 1999, it was named one of the 25 best newspapers in the country. Today, The Spokesman-Review still operates out of the iconic Review Tower. It delivers news to Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, and all around the Inland Northwest, meaning residents there never have to follow the barking of a clairvoyant dog to get the scoop on the latest stories.
