Most cities have a food that exemplifies their culture, such as the Philadelphia cheesesteak, which is a brotherly union of cheese and steak, and spicy Buffalo wings, which honor the city's famously hotheaded chicken population. Discover Fort Collins' flavors with today's Groupon: for $15, you get two weekend passes (a $30 value) to the Taste of Fort Collins festival on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. Children under 12 are admitted for free.
A northern Colorado tradition, the Taste of Fort Collins festival treats families and festival-goers to two days of food, arts and crafts, music, and drinks from Fort Collins and around the country. Area restaurants, including Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que, Grammy's Goodies, and Buffalo Wild Wings, serve tasting portions ($1–$3) and larger meals ($5–$8) and beverage outfits such as Odell and Skyy provide ample toasting ammunition. On Saturday, Third Eye Blind headlines a collection of acts that includes local indie-pop supergroup Fierce Bad Rabbit and Sunday's concerts culminate in a performance by Steven Page, who left the Barenaked Ladies to pursue a solo career and spend more time teaching children about what Mount Rushmore should have looked like.
The festival also boasts several once-in-a-weekend activities, such as a 5K run benefitting the Larimer County Child Advocacy Center on Saturday morning and an eating contest each afternoon. Meanwhile, family-friendly activities run the entire weekend at the Kidz Zone, where (for additional fees) kids can swing on carnival rides and play games as face painters draw maps of the festival grounds on parents' foreheads.
Although The Taste of Fort Collins is offering a number of one-day specialty discounts on its website, today's deal offers the best two-day deal open to the general public.
