Today's Groupon gets you $35 worth of Thai sips and savories at Thai Orchid Restaurant for $15. That's less than the cost of a Caribbean cruise and also less than the cost of a couple of burgers from that same old neighborhood joint plus a Caribbean cruise. Sample a bevy of authentic dishes daily, from traditional classics (such as pad thai noodles or green curry, $10.95 each) to exotic delights (New Zealand green mussels, $16.95).
Start with the Thai satay ($5.95), five sticks of chicken, beef, or tofu marinated in yellow curry and served with peanut sauce and sliced cucumber salad. Count on finding standard curry selections (red, green, yellow, panang, and mussamun, $10.95 each), fried rices (up to $13.95), and noodle dishes (most are $10.95). Thai Orchid also features vegetarian selections and a kids' menu that includes no hotdogs or pizza, so you may have to quell child rebellions the way the French used to—by dipping your children in a calming honey-mustard bath. Certain dishes can be customized according to spice-level preferences.
Thai Orchid is open for lunch Monday through Saturday and dinner daily. Weekday lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dinner is served Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Online reservations make it easy to snag a table if you are in an Internet cafe, free-WiFi library, or a stranger's house that is wired with a DSL connection.

About Thai Orchid Restaurant
Not every restaurant gets to be inaugurated by a mayor. But in June 1999, Scott Wheeler used his mayoral gravitas to help help celebrate the opening of Thai Orchid Restaurant.
The eatery's auspicious beginnings reflect its involvement in the community today. With a menu of spicy tom yum soups, stir-fries built from sautéed meats, curries, and noodle medleys, it supplies the surrounding neighborhood with a wide selection of Thai cuisine. It also counts itself as a proud member of the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce.
